David Jon Gilmour, born 6 Mar 1946), is an English musician, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.David is best known for his work as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of the rock band Pink Floyd. 

Animals was partly written and rehearsed during the Dark Side of the Moon tour in 1974 and completed during recording sessions in 1976 after a year break from touring.
